Wild Sage – Cammeray

Tucked away in the bustling Stockland Cammeray Shopping centre lies one of Sydney’s North Shores’ golden nuggets – Wild Sage. No longer do we need to go gold panning “OTB” (over the bridge), as this piece of gold was sitting right on our doorstep all along! Featuring an all-day menu full of delicious contemporary Australian cuisine, Wild Sage is bound to impress all taste buds at Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch or Dinner.

On a gorgeous Sydney Spring morning we rolled our way over to Wild Sage post Saturday morning gym session – a Saturday tradition as we obviously deserve a feast because we exercised right?…right?

Wild Sage is well and truly alive, full of energy, families enjoying a meal with one another, and locals catching up over pastries and coffee! Due to its courtyard style, shopfront seating and large interior, Wild Sage is perfectly able to accommodate parents with toddlers and prams, a bonus for many in Cammeray due to its family oriented demographic.

The staff at Wild Sage were on point. Extraordinarily friendly, willing to cater to any requests (in our case adding Bacon to the Smashed Avocado breakfast – a highly recommended addition!), ensuring you always have ice cold water on your table, and checking in to ensure that your meal was just as delicious as you were expecting it to be! We really could not fault them if we tried.

To continue our Saturday morning “health kick” we stuck to the “Light and Fresh” section of the menu. Featuring an abundance of fresh, healthy and delicious meals ranging from Warm Creamy Vanilla Porridge with Strawberry & Rhubarb Compote ($13), Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Eggs, Spanish Onion, Watercress & Fennel ($16), to Pea & Sweet Corn Fritters with Rocket & Grilled Tomato ($16.9), this menu is out to impress! Admittedly, we are saving the French Toast “bakery temptation” and Ricotta and Lemon Pancakes “Chef’s Creation” for a dusty Sunday brunch!

Wild Sage Breakfast Spread ft. Breakfast Bruschetta, Smashed Avocado and a Seasonal Fruit Bowl

After a severe case of what we like to call “order anxiety” due to the abundance of choice, we decided on the Smashed Avocado with Feta, Heirloom Tomatoes & Poppy Seeds on Sourdough Bread ($16), the Breakfast Bruschetta with Fresh Tomato, Grilled Haloumi, Poached Eggs & Dukkah on Sourdough Bread ($16), and a Seasonal Fruit Bowl with Honey Yoghurt & Fresh Passion Fruit ($13) to share.

Smashed Avocado with Feta, Heirloom Tomatoes & Poppy Seeds on Sourdough Bread ($16)

As soon as the Smashed Avocado landed on our table, our taste buds went into meltdown. The heirloom tomatoes were bright, juicy and ready to be devoured, the smashed avocado was the perfect balance between a perfectly ripe avocado, a dash of zesty lime and a drizzle of oil, and the “egg yolk porn” was on point (To clarify – “egg yolk porn” is the brilliant spectacle of seeing an egg yolk ooze so beautifully from an egg when cut open!). For an additional $4.5 we added bacon to this stack of goodness, an addition we highly recommend – this combination is truly what all your breakfast dreams are made of!

Breakfast Bruschetta with Fresh Tomato, Grilled Haloumi, Poached Eggs & Dukkah on Sourdough Bread ($16)

The Breakfast Bruschetta is a meal to be reckoned with. There is nothing quite comparable to two large slices of soft yet perfectly crunchy Sourdough toast, lined with fresh, juicy tomatoes, topped with melt in your mouth Haloumi and deliciously yolky Hunter Valley free range eggs. The perfect quantity of Egyptian condiment Dukkah atop the Breakfast Bruschetta, cut right through the dish, filling it with the subtle taste of roasted spice and nuts.

Seasonal Fruit Bowl with Honey Yoghurt & Fresh Passionfruit ($13)

Fruit Bowls are hard to conquer – the choice of fruits must complement one another, the fruit must be fresh to ensure the flavours do not blend into one, and its accompaniment must be chosen well . Wild Sage’s Seasonal Fruit Bowl ticked all of these boxes. Fresh, vibrant coloured, seasonal fruits, topped with a deliciously sweet passionfruit, and accompanied with a not too sweet honey yoghurt – we vote it the ideal accompaniment to a perfect Summer breakfast!

As North Shore locals we are kicking ourselves for not discovering Wild Sage any earlier. Now that we have indulged in all the goodness they have to offer, there is no doubt we consider it our new favourite local breakfast spot! We would love for you to try it and make it your new favourite too!
